The Global Child Health Group wants to make a contribution to the improvement of children’s health (across the world) by means of:
- Developing a Knowledge Centre Global Child Health that can provide advice, training and guidance to individuals, national or international organisations (like Médecins Sans Frontières) and the Dutch government.
- Setting up scientific research into significant health problems among children in developing countries, with a view to structurally improve these children’s health.
- Contributing to capacity building by providing education and training and by furthering the development of research support centres in Africa.

Collaboration
For the last few years, the Global Child Health Group concentrated more on building a broad 'expertise' in the field of international paediatrics (Global Child Health). In the Netherlands, this know-how is basically available, but spread across the country and therefore inaccessible at times. Expertise in the field of Global Child Health is crucial for the proper functioning of NGOs and public bodies involved in international paediatrics. The fact that this can be fruitful is obvious from the collaboration, already in place for years now, between Médecins Sans Frontières Nederland (MSF-OCA) and the Global Child Health Group, with the Global Child Health Group providing paediatric training and expertise to MSF-OCA.

Partners
Through the agency of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, contacts were recently established with other NGOs and with the Ministry of Defence. It is expected that collaborations will come to pass with these organisations, too.
